Building a Sustainable Future: Hari Krishna Group Joins Watches & Jewellery Initiatives 2030 to Empower Communities and Preserve the Environment

Mumbai, India – Hari Krishna Group, a leading diamond and jewellery manufacturing company, has strengthened the Hari Krishna Group WJI 2030 partnership by joining the Watches & Jewellery Initiatives 2030 (WJI 2030), a global sustainability initiative launched by Kering and Cartier in 2021.

Aims of WJI 2030

WJI 2030 focuses on improving sustainability across three key areas: building climate resilience, preserving resources, and fostering inclusiveness. Moreover, the Ten Principles of the United Nations Global Compact and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals guide the initiative.

Hari Krishna Group WJI 2030 Commitment

The participation reflects the Group’s strong commitment to social responsibility and environmental conservation. Through the Hari Krishna Group WJI 2030 collaboration, the company reinforces its long-term vision for sustainability. These values are actively championed through the Dholakia Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the Group.

The Foundation has undertaken several impactful initiatives. For instance, it has planted over 2.5 million trees and constructed 125 lakes across Gujarat and India as part of the #Mission100Sarovar initiative.

These efforts have significantly increased water availability in nearby villages. As a result, wildlife has resurged and water scarcity has been resolved in over 100 villages. With a total water capacity of 7 billion litres, these lakes now allow farmers to cultivate up to three crops annually.

The Group’s sustainability efforts set a positive example within the industry. Notably, its resource preservation initiatives align directly with one of the three core pillars of WJI 2030. Therefore, the Group stands as a valuable partner in this collective endeavour and can take a leadership role within this pillar.

Hari Krishna Group joins other luxury watchmakers and jewellery brands, including Lange & Söhne, IWC Schaffhausen, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Panerai, Piaget, Dimexon, Mattioli, Pandora, Rubel & Ménasché, as well as existing members such as Cartier, Kering (Boucheron, Gucci Watches, Pomellato, Dodo, Qeelin), Chanel Horlogerie Joaillerie, Montblanc, Rosy Blue, and Swarovski.

What Our Founder Said

Shri Savjibhai Dholakia, Founder and Chairman of Hari Krishna Group, expressed his gratitude and said, “We are honoured to join Watches & Jewellery Initiatives 2030 and collaborate with other leading brands to accelerate positive impact in our industry. We share a sustainable future vision and remain committed to making a positive difference for the planet and its people. Preserving resources is of utmost importance to us, and through our Dholakia Foundation, we take immense pride in contributing to this pillar.”

What Iris Van der Veken Said

Iris Van der Veken, Executive Director and Secretary General of WJI 2030, said, “We welcome HK to the Watch & Jewellery Initiative 2030. The time is now to accelerate efforts towards the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Action matters, and we look forward to their active participation in implementing our three core pillars: climate action, preserving resources, and inclusiveness.”

By supporting this initiative, the Hari Krishna Group WJI 2030 association strengthens its commitment to responsible growth. Furthermore, the Group aims to create a meaningful impact across the industry and society. Together, members strive to build a more inclusive, resilient, and responsible watches and jewellery sector.

In a remarkable gesture of support, the Dholakia Foundation () organised the UN 2023 Water Conference Gala Dinner during the conference. During this occasion, the Group dedicated a lake in the name of WJI 2030, symbolising its deep commitment to collaboration and sustainability.

The dedication of the lake reflects the Group’s strong belief in collaboration. It also highlights the transformative impact of sustainable practices in the watches and jewellery industry. Additionally, this symbolic gesture reinforces its commitment to preserving water resources and protecting the environment.

Hari Krishna Group WJI 2030 sustainability commitment

As this journey continues, the Hari Krishna Group WJI 2030 initiative invites everyone to pursue a better world where the environment thrives and communities prosper. Together, lasting impact can be created for future generations.
