CIBJO World Jewellery Confederation Event, held from October 3–5 at the City Palace in Jaipur, India.

A Historic Milestone for CIBJO in India

CIBJO is the oldest international jewellery association in the world and will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2026, according to
CIBJO President Gaetano Cavalieri in his welcome address.

Notably,“this event marks a historic moment, as it is the first time that the CIBJO Congress is being held on Indian soil,” said
Shri Piyush Goyal, Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, Government of India.

Focus on Responsible Sourcing, Sustainability, and ESG

Topics of discussion ranged from responsible sourcing and sustainability to internationally recognised standards. As a result, these discussions reflected the pressing concerns of the global jewellery trade.

The 2023 Congress was hosted by the
Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) and the
National Gem & Jewellery Council of India (NGJCI).
Moreover, the Congress focused on responsible sourcing, sustainability, and ESG practices, while emphasising ethical and environmentally conscious approaches. These priorities are central to the HK Group and its philanthropic arm,
Dholakia Foundation.

Prestigious Recognition for Chairman Savji Dholakia

During the event, CIBJO presented a prestigious award to HK Founder and
Chairman Savji Dholakia in recognition of his exceptional leadership in the sector.

Furthermore, his consistent dedication and contributions have driven the company’s achievements and led to significant breakthroughs across the jewellery industry.

Chairman Dholakia also received recognition for his efforts in water and environmental conservation, including the development of 140 lakes and the plantation of 2.8 million trees.

HK’s Vision for a Sustainable Jewellery Industry

“Our commitment to sustainability is not just a business choice; it is a moral imperative. We are committed to supporting Honourable
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a Sustainable Bharat. At the same time, through our actions, we are transforming the jewellery industry into a responsible and ethical one,” said
HK CEO Brijesh Dholakia during one of the bilateral meetings organised by HK.

In addition, as a driving force behind HK’s philosophy of ‘Diamond with a Heart,’ Brijesh Dholakia ensures that sustainability is embedded in the company’s practices. This commitment stood out at the CIBJO Congress, which brought together sustainability executives from
Cartier and Kering, co-founders of the Watches and Jewellery Initiative 2030, of which HK is also a member.

Global Leadership and Industry Engagement

Meanwhile, as a second-generation leader, Brijesh Dholakia also highlighted HK’s global initiatives. These include organising the Gala Night during the 2023 United Nations Conference in New York, where the company showcased its commitment to ethical sourcing and sustainable business practices worldwide.

Dholakia Foundation’s SDG-Aligned Initiatives

Additionally,
Dholakia Foundation CEO Keziah Theresse Gerosano shared milestones achieved by the Foundation through collaboration with UN agencies, government bodies, and local communities. These efforts focus on ensuring data-driven sustainable development.

In collaboration with the Government of Gujarat, the Dholakia Foundation will host the first-ever water festival in Amreli District, Jal Utsav. As a result, the event, dubbed “India’s First Carbon Neutral and Eco-Friendly Festival,” is expected to attract thousands of participants, including government officials and representatives from at least five United Nations agencies and member states.

Driving Ethical and Sustainable Practices Forward

Overall, these initiatives represent one of the many SDG-anchored efforts presented by the HK Group and the Dholakia Foundation at the CIBJO World Jewellery Confederation Event. Through active participation in knowledge sharing and industry networking, HK continues to strengthen its sustainability leadership.
